How can Kaupapa Maori inform research?
The principals of Whakapapa, Te Reo, Tikanga Maori, Rangatirantanga and Whanau are integral to research, informing researchers of the ways in which Maori view the world, think, learn and deal with knowledge. Also providing information about the relationships Maori form with others, with nature, and with the land. Tikanga Maori provides insight to customs, ethics and cultural behaviours.
How can the principles of Kaupapa Maori relate to my own practice?
The principles of Kaupapa Maori relate and are embedded in my practice. They provided essential information that enable me to facilitate learning situations that will promote learner agency, purpose and passion.
Inquiry Models of Learning

MindLab task: Apply the chosen inquiry model (SAUCE) to the question "will robots/AI reduce the need for human teachers?"
Problem: The students were tech savvy, they were already demonstrating reciprocity with other members of staff (their class teachers and teachers in other areas of the school), they were scaffolding, engaged and beginning to bring new ideas to the group.
Solution: Student Agency - Students will work collaboratively to develop their own company that will provide funds for the school using their digital competencies.
Unique Value Proposition: Learner Agency driving entrepreneurship in Primary School.
Stakeholders: Year 5 & 6 eLearning Leaders
Teachers & Staff, All Students, Principal, School Community, Board of Trustees, PTA

Market Share is the New Zealand business strategy board game. While it’s fun, engaging and competitive, it is also educational and it promotes business understanding and development. The Finish Education System
We used Kahoot.it to answer quiz questions about Finland. I'm not convinced I would use this form of assessment in a Future Focused Learning setting. It is timed, competitive, and doesn't cater for multiple learning styles. Being dyslexic, I found the time pressure disconcerting and when I didn't have enough time to read the question I simply 'clicked' on any answer. I personally found the whole exercise rather deflating, insulting and I became emotional with the inability to have a 'fair go'. I don't know if you can set more time... something I will explore. I'd like to set up a teacher account and hove a fully informed 'play' with this tool to see if it is suitable in any capacity in a Future Focused classroom.

Hauora - Well-being - Key to Success?
Hauora- Hauora is a Māori philosophy of health unique to New Zealand. It comprises taha tinana, taha hinengaro, taha whanau, and taha wairua. Could Hauora be one of the key concepts on defining what well-being and success is? It encompasses the physical, mental and emotional, social, and spiritual dimensions of health. The concept is recognised by the World Health Organisation.
Taha tinana - Physical well-being - the physical body, its growth, development, and ability to move, and ways of caring for it.
Taha hinengaro - Mental and emotional well-being - coherent thinking processes, acknowledging and expressing thoughts and feelings and responding constructively
Taha whanau - Social well-being - family relationships, friendships, and other interpersonal relationships; feelings of belonging, compassion, and caring; and social support.
Taha wairua - Spiritual well-being - the values and beliefs that determine the way people live, the search for meaning and purpose in life, and personal identity and self-awareness (For some individuals and communities, spiritual well- being is linked to a particular religion; for others, it is not.)

What makes a good leader?
Q. A new BYOD programme has just been implemented at your learning organisation. A recent review indicates that teachers and/or students are not making the most of the technology.
How do I increase the impact of these devices?

"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great."
Unlike top management at Enron, exemplary leaders reward dissent. They encourage it. They understand that, whatever momentary discomfort they experience as a result of being told they might be wrong, it is more than offset by the fact that the information will help them make better decisions."
"He tells you what you want to hear, he tries to talk you up, he tries to give you the belief and you go there to do the work for him. He knows what I can do. Before the game he told me 'King, listen to me, do your magic - you are the best'. When you hear that from your coach, you want to do something for him."Kanu talking about Harry Rednapp to BBC Sport
This blog will track my learning journey with MIND LAB and how I implement this new knowledge into practice.
